This Gothic building, a memorial to the Pittsburgh-born composer Stephen Collins Foster, contains
a collection of first editions of Foster’s music. It’s located next to the Cathedral of Learning.
Fort Pitt Museum, Point State Park, Downtown, [412] 281-9284
This museum houses 60 exhibits from early Western Pennsylvania Nativeamerican culture, including
the era of the fur traders, the conflict between the English and French for control of the Ohio
Territory, Pittsburgh in 1800 and a full-scale reconstruction of a trader’s cabin.

A student-run gallery that hosts week-long shows featuring Carnegie Mellon student work. Attend
the Friday night openings throughout the semester to enjoy great art, food, drink and mingling.

Enjoy lectures, special exhibits and music concerts at this unique museum housed in an Italian
Renaissance-style building. The collection includes paintings from early Renaissance through 18th century
artists including Rubens, Tintoretto and the School of Giotto.

The guild is a multi-cultural arts education and presenting organization with programs in the disciplines
of ceramic art, photography and music. There are regular exhibits throughout the year.

Mattress Factory is a museum of contemporary art that commissions, presents and collects site-specific
installations in an environment whose resources are dedicated to that process. Entrance is free for students

This gallery, in the Jewish Community Center, holds regular exhibitions selected by jurors and
ensures quality and a diverse cross-section of work.

You won’t miss this 42-story Gothic classroom building belonging to the University of Pittsburgh

Phipps is one of the nation’s largest greenhouses, measuring over two acres. It contains many rare
flowers and plants, a tropical garden, an orchid collection, and there are several flower shows held
