Window Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5pm
Student Package Pick-up Window: Mon-Fri 10am-6pm, Sat 11am-5pm (during the school year)

The University's Postal Services processes all incoming and outgoing U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail and campus mail for all departments and the residence life community. The cash window operation of the Post Office is located in the campus mailroom on the lower level of the University Center. Services include stamp sales, money orders, box rentals, on-campus special delivery, fax and copy service, mailing supplies (envelopes, tape, boxes) specialty boxes and padded envelopes, in addition to all USPS package services. Expedited and special services include certified, registered, express, priority, signature and delivery confirmation and insured mail. The Post Office accepts cash, checks with a valid ID or driver's license, and Plaid Ca$h The Post Office also provides international mailing services and assists with the May student pack-up and shipping service.

Some helpful hints for shipping your belongings: When addressing your package/s, please include your Student Mail Code (SMC) number on all packages. Please try to keep the weight of your package/s under 70 pounds; limiting the weight of your packages will help us and you when lifting and carrying your packages. If your package has a tracking number and the online tracking service states the package is in Pittsburgh that does not mean that it is on campus. The package most likely is in a Pittsburgh distribution site in route to the university post office. When you arrive on campus, check your e-mail for a package verification notice. After you receive your notification, go to the package pick up window located down the hall past the window counter in the lower level of the University Center to claim your package. The package pick up window is open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 11am-5pm (during the school year). Since storage space is limited, please pick up your package/s within 48 hours. We are not responsible for perishable packages; for that reason you are strongly encouraged to pick up packages on a daily basis.

All undergraduate students will be assigned a student mail code (SMC) corresponding to a mailbox in the mailroom. The centralized mailroom is located in the lower level of the University Center across from the Career Center. A limited number of mailboxes are available for graduate student rental.

Parking Services

University Center LL -88, [412] 268-2052 :: cmu.edu/parking
Michelle Porter, Parking Services ::
Reservations:
Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm

The official policy can be found at cmu.edu/parking. Below is a summary of the parking policy.

Parking on campus is limited and demand is higher than supply. The University provides a limited number of parking lots for the vehicles of students, staff and faculty members in various locations on the campus. The University Parking Advisory Board has established a system of priorities to be used in allocating permits every year. The procedure is to allocate permits first to tenured faculty and senior administrators, then to non-tenured faculty and staff and then to students. In the student phase of the allocation, permits are issued first to graduate students, then to commuting seniors, juniors, sophomores and first year students, followed by resident student seniors, juniors, and sophomores if received by the deadline. Historically, very few students receive parking permits and for this reason first year students are not permitted to have vehicles on campus.

Applications for permit process are available in the Parking & Transportation Office and on the Parking & Transportation Services homepage. Once the annual allocation procedure is completed, any remaining permits are sold to applicants who are on waiting lists for parking. Permits are issued upon payment of the fee for the assigned parking lot and presentation of the vehicle registration.

Parking permits must be purchased and displayed at all times in any vehicles parked in these lots. Vehicles that do not display a valid permit and vehicles parked in violation of university regulations will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense. Repeated violations will result in the immobilization of a vehicle or removal from campus by towing at the owner's expense. Unpaid fines will be charged to the student's account in The HUB with the addition of a service charge. Parking permits may be withdrawn and disciplinary action may be invoked in accordance with regulations approved by the Parking Advisory Board in cases where violations are serious or habitual. Destruction or removal of an immobilizer is a serious offense. Copies of the parking policies and traffic regulations are available on the Parking & Transportation Services website at cmu.edu/parking
