Science Center
Explore the Science Center, IMAX Theatre, & SportsWorks
Carnegie Science Center: 1 Allegheny Avenue, 15212
The Science Center is interesting and caters wonderfully to a younger crowd. You can learn about aerodynamics or any kind of waves (sound, heat, etc.). You can tour a submarine or a miniature village equipped with a full-service railroad system. The museum also includes an IMAX theater and the SportsWorks exhibit. The IMAX shows two different features many times a day. SportsWorks explains the science of almost every sport you can think of, then allows you to experience that science for yourself. With tons of interactive activities, including a climbing wall, virtual snowboard racing, virtual golf, designing your own roller coaster and then riding it (simulation) and more, SportsWorks is a place anyone can enjoy, from young to old, philosopher to scientist.
The Science Center is within walking distance of both Heinz Field and PNC Park and the Andy Warhol Museum if you want to make a day trip to the North Shore.
