Where can you get nose to beak with a flamingo, talk to a friendly parrot, encounter a bald eagle, and walk through an indoor rainforest? At the National Aviary, America’s only independent, indoor, non-profit bird zoo!
The National Aviary, located in Pittsburgh’s historic North Side is home to over 600 birds of more than 200 exotic and endangered species from all over the world. Open daily 9am to 5pm, the Aviary offers unique encounters and activities everyday. Fly on by for some fun!

Getting There:
By Car:
Take I-376 to Pittsburgh. Follow the signs for the North Shore and I-279 North. Cross the Fort Duquesne bridge and take the North Shore exit to the left. At the stoplight, turn right onto Allegheny Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Western Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn left onto Arch Street.
By Bus:
Board the 500 on Fifth Avenue, heading towards downtown or board the 54C along Fifth Avenue bus lane, headed away from Downtown. Exit at the intersection of Arch Street at North Avenue. The Aviary is in West Park.
