Residence Hall Poster Distribution Process

Student Life serves as the hub for distributing fliers to the residential staff (RAs and CAs) for posting inside campus residence halls. Posting is limited to recognized student organizations only – no external solicitors or neighborhood businesses.

The following information must be provided on the poster: date, time, place, sponsored by, funded by (if funded), and contact information in the form of an @andrew.cmu.edu email address and/or a phone number. You must also indicate if you have reserved appropriate space for your event. A Carnegie Mellon email address is non-negotiable and must be provided. Failure to include this information will result in your request for distribution to be declined until the flier is updated.

To submit your flier for approval and have it distributed for posting please follow these steps:

  1. Bring one copy of the flier, with the information outlined above clearly indicated, to the Student Life Office during business hours.
  2. Complete a "Poster Review Application" form available from the reception desk. This form should be filled out completely and then stapled to the top left hand corner of the submitted flier.
  3. Once approved the person submitting the flier will be notified and can drop off the appropriate number of copies for distribution. The student life office will NOT make copies of posters for groups, all copies must be provided by the organization.
    • 119 copies for distribution to all campus housing
    • 25 additional if you would like the flier to be given to fraternities and sororities
  4. Posters are normally delivered to staff mailboxes the next business day, but it may take additional time for staff to hang the flier. It is recommended that fliers be submitted at least one week prior to the event.

Questions about this process can be directed to Cathy O'Domes, Student Life Office Coordinator.
