Events
There are many major programs and events sponsored by the governing councils of the individual fraternities and sororities. Greek Week, Greek Sing, Greek Awards and the Almost Midnight Breakfast are just a few of these programs. The success of all of these programs is largely the result of strong interfraternal cooperation of the entire fraternity and sorority Community.
Involvement in fraternity and sorority life includes a tremendous opportunity for involvement in campus life and individual leadership development. Annually, our fraternity and sorority leaders participate in the Greek Retreat, in which chapter leaders take a trip away from campus to explore their leadership potential. And every year many of the fraternities and sororities participate in activities during Carnival Weekend including Booth and Buggy.
Fraternity and Sorority Members Make a Difference in the Lives of Children
Be a Big for a Day
On November 10, 2007, 50 members of the Greek Community participated in Be A Big For A Day and mentored at risk youth in elementary, middle and high schools from the greater Pittsburgh area. The fraternity and sorority members were paired with a "little" that they helped to complete various activities. The activities included Sudoko, building a free standing structure out of balloons and legos and several other "brain teasers". The day was a huge success and over 50 kids from the Pittsburgh community were able to enjoy a fun filled day on Carnegie Mellon's campus.
