From the Office of Student Life
Welcome to Carnegie Mellon University! As you embark on your studies at Carnegie Mellon University it is our hope that you will take time to consider joining a fraternity or sorority. You will find that these organizations will allow you to excel as a student at Carnegie Mellon. Whether it be through academics, friendships, community involvement, athletics, leadership experience, or just plain fun, being Greek at Carnegie Mellon offers the unique opportunity to succeed in all areas of life.
Achieving excellence is the primary focus of a college education, and the sorority women and fraternity men at Carnegie Mellon University have been an integral part of this mission. Founded upon the common principles and core values of scholarship, leadership, community service, character, and the formation of lifelong friendships, the sorority women and fraternity men at Carnegie Mellon University are continually challenged to uphold these timeless principles in their daily lives.
Membership in a Greek Organization often is one of the most significant experiences for a college student. It is our hope that you enjoy your experiences as a new student while exploring Greek Life as an option. We hope that you begin to take advantage of what the Greek community has to offer you. Since 1912, CMU Greek Life has been a viable and respected part of campus life, while many of our key administrators and faculty are fellow member and alumni of Greek organizations.
Please use the opportunities offered to you during the recruitment periods to expose yourself to each chapter and discover which chapter is the best fit for you. You will find that the fraternity or sorority experience will open many new doors for you, doors that you will never want to shut. Greek life will offer you the opportunity to discover and achieve your best, both in your college year and beyond.
Best of luck to each of you!
