MOSAIC 2009
Each year, students across all academic disciplines come together for MOSAIC, a community-wide gender conference. The objective of MOSAIC is to offer provocative sessions aimed at exploring gender constructions in unconventional ways. This year's theme, "Gender Exposed" takes a look at some gender myths and stereotypes. Sessions are led by faculty members and advanced graduate students from Carnegie Mellon as well as area colleges and universities. Thie year, we are excited to have Jessica Valenti as our keynote speaker. She is the founder and executive editor of feministing.com and author of gender-focused books, including Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters. She's edited several books on women's issues and was named one of ELLE magazine's intelligentsia. Ms. Valenti will present her vision of feminism and the importance of disregarding stereotypes and myths.
The first 35 Carnegie Mellon community members to register will receive a free copy of Jessica Valenti's "He's a Stud, She's a Slut, and 49 Other Double Standards Every Woman Should Know".
