On-Campus Apartments
Carnegie Mellon provides a variety of on-campus apartment housing that is primarily designed around the experience of upperclass students. These communities provide a unique blend of a traditional residential environment while affording students a great deal of independence and helping residents cultivate a lifelong commitment to active participation in the communities in which they live, both at Carnegie Mellon and beyond. Doherty Apartments is an active and vibrant community with an emphasis helping students transition out of college life and into the world. Students in Doherty form committees that govern the house activities in areas such as IM sports, fitness and wellness, community living, and environmentally-friendly practices. Doherty is known for its long-standing traditions such as the Doherty Challenge (focusing on personal and professional development) and Wednesday's Just Desserts.
The Intersection
The Intersection is made up of three different residential communities: Woodlawn Apartments has a classic apartment building feel, newly-renovated Margaret Morrison Apartments employ a townhouse motif, and Roselawn Apartments is comprised of individual houses on a small cul-de-sac. Though distinct in character, these houses are connected by the real world experiences they share through programs in the courtyard, weekly events in the Margaret Morrison Lounge and other area-wide initiatives.
