Mixed-Class Suites

These house communities leverage the benefits of having a healthy range of students from all class years. All residents – from first year to senior – benefit in the ideas generated when students who have a variety of experiences at Carnegie Mellon interact and share their talents with each other. These houses are some of the largest at Carnegie Mellon and are characterized by strong house identities, active leadership opportunities for residents, and long-standing traditions that are maintained year after year. Morewood Gardens

The largest of the house communities, Morewood Gardens is home to over 450 residents of all academic years.  Students in this house have a significant amount of pride for their House and the community within.  This is expressed through various programs such as Saturday night "Up Late", Morewood Mondays, IntraMorewood Games, and the 'UpperGround'.  It is also exemplified by the casual conversations and interactions that take place in the lounges and other public spaces.

Welch and Henderson

Welch and Henderson are two unique buildings forming one house community on the Hill. Welch is a 24-hour quiet building and Henderson, a LEED-certified residence hall, has a focus on personal health and wellness. Combined, this House takes an active role in the Hill residence halls through Hilloween, the annual SCHWA-BQ, Blind Date Dinners, and regular multi-cultural pot-luck dinners.

West Wing / Resnik

These two suite-style communities, located adjacent to Gesling Stadium, are the home for students in all the colleges and are largely populated by upperclassmen, which encourages students to build relationships with a broad and diverse group of their peers. The staff partner with residents to create an engaging and vibrant community experience that explore the arts, intellectual debate, personal and professional development and personal wellness. House residents have come to appreciate the weekly Ten Spot where students enjoy food, snacks and trivia together! Resnik is also home to two special interest suites organized around resident-driven interest areas such as leadership, wellness and the arts.
