Advising Changes in OIE
Date: March 22, 2006
Subject: Advising Changes in OIE
Greetings. I am writing to inform you (1) about a new OIE Foreign Student and Scholar Advisor and (2) of changes to the structure of OIE advising. These changes are all positive and will be seamless in terms of service to students and scholars.
(1) Jennifer McNabb has accepted the position of Foreign Student and Scholar Advisor in OIE. Among other duties including the role of "undergraduate specialist," she will advise all foreign students and J scholars in 3 colleges:
Humanities and Social Sciences
Mellon College of Science
Tepper School of Business
Jennifer joins OIE and the CMU community with over ten years of foreign student advising experience including most recently at Princeton University in New Jersey. In addition, Jennifer has taught ESL to a variety of students including advanced grammar students, Mexican adult learners, and learners outside of the U.S.. Her own academic background includes women's studies, TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language), and international studies and French.
Jennifer may be reached by email at jmcnabb@andrew.cmu.edu or by phone at 412/268-5231 beginning on Monday, April 3rd, 2006.
(2) Linda Gentile and Neslihan Ozdoganlar, who have been ably advising foreign students and scholars in all colleges since Gen Cook's departure, will continue their excellent work as advisors with people in the colleges listed below.
Linda Gentile will continue in her office role as the "J scholar specialist" and will advise all students and J scholars in these 3 schools:
Heinz School
School of Computer Science
College of Fine Arts
Neslihan Ozdoganlar will change her office role to become OIE's "graduate issues specialist" and will continue to advise all students and J scholars in:
Carnegie Institute of Technology
Thank you for your support during this period of exciting change in our office. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Lisa Krieg, Director
