New USCIS Fees Effective July 30, 2007

As announced, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) fees for services impacting foreign students, foreign scholars, and their dependent family members will be increased for petitions received by the USCIS on or after July 30, 2007. For the full press release and a listing of the new fee schedule, visit the USCIS website for their press release and a chart of the new fees.
For foreign students, the fees that may be most relevant are:
* I-765: Employment Authorization (OPT) / EAD Card / $340
* I-539: Extend Stay as a Nonimmigrant/Change Nonimmigrant Status / Reinstatement/ $300
For foreign scholars, the fees that are most relevant are:
* I-129: Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker (H-1B) / $320
* I-539: Extend Stay as a Nonimmigrant or Change Nonimmigrant Status / $300
* I-140: Petition for an Immigrant Worker / $475
* I-485: Adjust Status and Become a Permanent Resident in the US / $600 to $1010.
