OPT Sessions for Summer 2007 Graduates
OPT Sessions
OIE will offer OPT information/application sessions for F1 students who will be completing their programs in the Summer 07 Semester. If you are planning to apply for OPT this semester, you must attend one of the following application sessions rather than scheduling an individual appointment with your OIE advisor.
Note: You must file the OPT application with USCIS prior to completing your program or you will forfeit the benefit. Applications can take 60 to 90 days to be approved so apply as soon as you can.
These sessions will be held from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Students must register for a session in advance by calling 412-268-5231.
Prior to attending the session, you must read the OPT instructions ( http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/oie/forstu/optpt.pdf ) and have
your academic advisor complete the OPT recommendation form. Bring this completed form, along with your I-20, passport and I-94 to the session. You should also complete the I-765 form and bring that to the session. The I-765 form is available online at: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765.pdf
Arrive on time. Students who arrive late can not attend the session and will need to reschedule for another day.
Students in J1 status who are expecting to complete their program this semester should read the handout on Academic Training http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/oie/forstu/acatraj1.pdf and schedule an appointment with their J1 Responsible Officer (an OIE advisor if CMU issued your DS-2019).
