Obtaining A Social Security Number
As with all employees in the US, employees in J-1 status must have a valid US social security number in order to work and be paid in the U.S.. Even those who will not receive pay in the U.S. will find it convenient to have an U.S. social security number. Instructions and applications for the social security number are available in the OIE, Warner 3rd floor, or visit the Resources section of this site.
