Checking in with OIE
New H1B employees are encouraged to attend OIE's weekly New Scholar Orientation sessions held each week on Thursday, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Warner Hall, 3rd floor. Call the OIE at 412/268-5231 for more information or to schedule attendance. Bring the passport with I-94 and H1B Approval Notice to the meeting.
For employees who have been in the US for a long time, an individual meeting with the Foreign Scholar Coordinator is an alternative to the Orientation meeting on Thursday.
Employees should visit OIE shortly after arrival by attending the Orientation or meeting individually with the Advisor.
Other OIE Services
A Foreign Scholar Advisor is available at the OIE to assist H1B employees with issues related to non-immigrant documents and status, cultural adjustment, and practical matters. To schedule an appointment to meet with an Advisor, call the OIE receptionist at 412-268-5231.
