MOSAIC  2011

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Each year, students across all academic disciplines come together for MOSAIC, a community-wide gender conference held on Carnegie Mellon's campus.  The objective of MOSAIC is to offer provocative sessions aimed at exploring gender constructions in unconventional ways.  Sessions are led by faculty, staff and students of Carnegie Mellon, as well as members of the local community.  This year, we are excited to have Brian Sims, President of Equality Pennsylvania, join us as our Keynote Speaker.  A former NCAA Football Captain, Sims speaks on issues of athletics, diversity and advocacy.

As we celebrate MOSAIC's 15th anniversary, our theme, "Then and Now" explores how ideas, practices, and policies regarding gender have changed, or not changed, over the past 15 years.  Through this exploration we hope to highlight the advancements made, and the challenges that remain, within the shaping of our gender consciousness.

MOSAIC t-shirts will be available to the first 150 people who check-in at registration the day of the conference, so come early and stay for a great day!
