Men at Work; The top ten most important health screenings for men We read and hear about the importance of cardiovascular health for men every day. What other important aspects of health do men need to focus on? This informative session will cover the top ten most important health tests a man can get, and why can save your life. |

Food and the environment: what are we to do? Have you tried to eat more local and organic foods to improve you health? Are you interested in clear and current advice on how to improve your health via diet and be “green” at the same time? We have just the session for you: Join Paula Martin, the campus nutritionist, Dr. Christopher Weber, a research professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Art King, from Harvest Valley Farms, for a panel discussion focusing on The Dietary Guidelines for American’s, the latest research on food miles and community supported agriculture on our campus. |

How to Start an Exercise Program Many of us are interested in starting an exercise program, and weight lifting may be a component. Do you have questions or concerns about how to get started with weights? If so, join Donna to discuss easy ways to incorporate resistance training exercise into a workout that makes sense for you. Please note; this is a hands on session. Participants will have the opportunity to use various pieces of equipment in the UC gym. Please be prepared to participate. |

The Therapeutic Benefits of Pets Studies have shown that when dogs and cats visit a care facility, more laughter and interaction occur among residents than during any other "therapy" or entertainment time. Similar studies report that children who live in homes in which a pet is considered a member of the family are more empathetic than children in homes without pets. Come learn more about the benefits of having a furry friend in your life. Please note: there will be therapy animals present for this session. Stress and Resiliency Stress has become a part of everyday life, but feeling stressed out doesn’t have to be. Participants will be learn: the differences between eustress (good) and distress (bad), to identify physical and psychological symptoms and understand how our bodies respond to stress, coping strategies to deal with stress appropriately in all relationships and how optimal health integrates our habits, attitudes and values. |
