Is your life affected by someone's drinking?

Millions of people are affected by the excessive drinking or someone close to them. It could be a parent, friend, family member, co-worker or romantic partner. Al-Anon is a group that offers understanding and support to families and friends of problem drinkers. The following questions may help you decide if Al-Anon is a resource for you:

  • Do you worry about how much someone else drinks?
  • Do you have money problems because of someone else's drinking?
  • Have you told lies to cover up someone else's drinking?
  • Do you feel that if the drinker cared about you, he or she would stop drinking?
  • Have you been hurt or embarrassed by a drinker's behavior?
  • Are holidays or gatherings spoiled because of someone's excessive drinking?
  • Have you considered calling the police for help in fear of abuse?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then Al-Anon or Alateen may be of help to you.  Visit their website at www.al-anon.alateen.org or call 412-572-5141 for more information.
