Photo ID
Your Carnegie Mellon Card is one of the most important items you will receive during Orientation. It is your official photo identification card. It is mandatory that every student, faculty and staff member has an ID card and be able to produce it upon request. It identifies you as a member of the Carnegie Mellon community.
Your Carnegie Mellon Card will be part of your everyday campus life and is used to access the following university facilities and services:
- University Housing Residence Halls
- Computing Services, Computer Clusters/Labs
- University Libraries
- Local Port Authority Transit (bus, incline, etc.)
- Dining Services Meal Plans
- Computer Store
- University Center Retail Shops
- Plaid CashAccount
- Recreational facilities in Skibo Gym and University Center
Enrollment Services has an easy way for you to get ready to be a Carnegie Mellon student. By e-mailing your jpeg photo and information to photo-id@andrew.cmu.edu or mailing your completed ID form and picture to The HUB by July 31 your housing access and meal plan information will be encoded onto your Carnegie Mellon Card in advance and your card will be ready for pickup at the housing check-in on the first day of Orientation.
For students who do not send their ID form and photo by July 31, a temporary housing access card will be issued at housing check-in. You will then need to have your ID photo taken either Sunday, August 19, Monday, August 20 or Tuesday, August 21 in the Carnegie Mellon Card Office, Room A11, across from The HUB on the lower level of Warner Hall.
