Office of Orientation & First-year Programs
International Students: Important Information!
International students should coordinate their arrival in Pittsburgh and on the CMU campus to attend the following international events:
- Move-In Day:
Friday August 17 between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm
International students are permitted move into the residence halls. - International Student Orientation:
Saturday, August 18 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
International students are required to attend this one-day Orientation program. - Parent and Family Member Orientation:
Saturday, August 18 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
There will be special sessions for parents and family members of international students during International Student Orientation. Family members who want to attend are asked to email newinter@andrew.cmu.edu and let us know the number of people from the family who will attend. Parents and family members are also encouraged to attend events on Sunday, August 19, the first day of First-Year Student Orientation. - First-year student Orientation:
Sunday, August 19 through Sunday August 26.
International Student Orientation complements the week long first-year student Orientation program.
You will receive further information about Move-In Day and International Student Orientation in the mail with your immigration document. Any student who has lived outside of the United States and is not on a student visa is also welcome to attend International Student Orientation; however, be sure to email OIE at newinter@andrew.cmu.edu to let us know you plan to attend.
