Academic Integrity
The Carnegie Mellon Code sets the highest standard for our community regarding personal integrity. Academic challenges can provide many opportunities for high standards to evolve if students actively reflect on them and if the community supports discussions to aid in this process. To that end, staff members in the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs are available to:
- Consult with instructors and students regarding suspected or confirmed violations of academic standards
- Provide support to students who are responding to allegations and help them to understand the consequences of academic integrity violations
- Maintain centralized records and provide statistical overviews of reported academic integrity violations including cheating, plagiarism, and inappropriate collaboration
- Serve as a resource on the university policies related to academic integrity
- Function as a central referral source regarding any questions or concerns from faculty or students
- Provide centralized support to the academic colleges in the planning and implementation of the College Conversations
For further information or assistance please contact Holly Hippensteel or Joanna Dickert in the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, 412-268-2075.
