Career Counseling
The Career Center provides career resources and assessment tools for students to gather information about choosing a major and career path. These avenues provide a framework for exploring and confirming academic and career goals. Career Consultants are available to assist students in all aspects of the career decision-making process. Typical topics include:
- Making career decisions related to choosing a major, exploring career options, skills, values, and interests.
- Identifying and applying for summer internships, volunteer opportunities, and campus employment.
- Creating a resume, cover letter, and reference list.
- Developing interviewing skills.
- Learning to conduct an independent job search.
- Optimizing on-campus recruiting opportunities.
- Reviewing the graduate school application process.
Individual counseling appointments can be made by calling (412) 268-2064.
Student Employment
Pati Kravetz, Director of Student Employment
The Student Employment Program promotes experiential learning and professional development. All fulltime students are permitted to work on campus, regardless of work-study eligibility.
Campus jobs are posted for either the academic year (fall and/or spring) or the summer session. Interested students contact the employer directly through their email address or a web-link. The employer interviews applicants and select the candidate to hire.
TartanTrak
The Career Center uses TartanTrak to post employment opportunities and administer the campus recruiting program. TartanTrak is a searchable database of full and part-time jobs, internships, and on-campus employment. It is also a database of interview schedules, resume books and employer information sessions. Registered students can upload their resume, apply for positions and schedule interviews for internships and jobs.
