Resumes

Develop a Resume for the First Time

Start by viewing the Success Guide to First Year Resumes (.pdf) for suggestions on content and format, as well as a resume builder and samples.

Resume Samples

Review the Career Guide (.pdf) or the Success Guide to Resumes (.pdf). You can also access Vault to view the Vault Guide to Resumes and Cover Letters or to view resume samples for specific industries and job functions. Your Career Consultant can also provide sample resumes relevant to your major. Graduate Students should refer to the How to Write A Curriculum Vitae Success Guide (.pdf).

Employment Letters

Writing your first cover letter can be difficult.  However, once you understand the format and the type of content that should be included, you can develop a template that can be used for additional job opportunities.  Please refer to the Success Guide on Employment Letters (.pdf) for sample letters including: cover letters, offer acceptance/decline letters, and thank you letters.

References

It is common for employers to request reference lists or reference letters.  Please refer to the Success Guide on Reference Letters and Reference Lists (.pdf) for details and a sample reference list.
