For Students

We hope you’ll join us for the 2009 Creative Arts Opportunities Conference on Thursday, February 11.

Here’s how to make the most of this event:

Be prepared

Review this website to see who is coming. We will provide you not only with a list of confirmed attendees, but information on their professional background, their firm or company (if appropriate), a list of topics they are interested in discussing, job and internship information for the guests who will be recruiting, and other valuable links.

Be ready to start the conversation

Whether you are in the early stages of exploring careers or know exactly what you want and simply seek another opinion on your portfolio, be clear on how you will introduce yourself and ask for the help you are seeking. Also, be clear about your skills and strengths so that if someone asks what you have to offer, you can answer effectively.

Have your resume and portfolio ready

Have your resume and portfolio ready, if you are searching for a job or internship. Again, call for an appointment if you need help on this. Collect important information and follow-up. Ask for a business card or get contact info for everyone you meet, and then send thank you notes to anyone you met who was helpful or interesting.

Finally -- if you need additional help preparing for this event or with career-related issues in general, contact Sonjala Allen or Elaine Stolick, CFA Career Consultants for help. Call 8-2064 for an appointment.
