There are options to allow employers to connect with Carnegie Mellon students without investing the staff and funding necessary for campus visits. Moreover, these options allow employers to schedule telephone or in-person meetings with students at mutually convenient times.

Resume Drop

The Resume Drop is an electronic job posting that appears on TartanTrak, the student interface of InterviewTRAK. Interested candidates submit their resume in response to your job opportunity and the resumes are then emailed to the employer. (To utilize this service, employers must be able to receive resumes via email.) A typical Resume Drop remains posted for one month.

The Resume Drop is a service provided to employers who:

  • DO NOT have a scheduled campus recruiting visit but wish to receive resumes of students interested in their opportunities.
  • OR

  • Have a campus recruiting visit scheduled and wish to receive resumes from interested students for positions they will NOT be interviewing for on campus. The POSITION DESCRIPTIONS MUST BE DIFFERENT from those submitted for campus interviewing schedules.
  • To arrange a resume drop, please submit a Resume Drop Form. You can also email your job description directly to Judy Ellgass, Employer Relations Liaison, at jellgass@andrew.cmu.edu or fax it to 412-268-7839.

    Specifics

    • Resume Drops will be posted within 48 hours of receiving them.
    • Resume Drops will be advertised for 1 month.
    • Interested students will request to have their resumes included.
NOTE: Only resumes of interested students will be sent.
    • Resumes will be emailed directly to employers.
    • Employers should contact students directly.
    • If on-campus space is available, employers are welcome to schedule recruiting visits to meet with students they wish to interview. Please contact Employer Relations at 412-268-2064 or erelate@andrew.cmu.edu for information on this.
    • Alumni who have graduated within one year will be able to access the opportunities posted through a Resume Drop.

    Job Posting

Electronic job postings can also be set up on MonsterTRAK.com. We partner with MonsterTRAK, as do many other schools, so that employers can set up job postings to target one or more of the participating schools. A job posting through MonsterTRAK can be useful if you are trying to recruit more experienced alumni, as there is no limit on the duration of time alumni can access this service. Please go to www.monstertrak.com to set up a job posting.

Recruiting on the Phone or with Teleconferencing

With the changing economy, companies may experience travel restrictions affecting their recruiting plans. In cases such as this, we can facilitate a recruiting event using teleconferencing technology or the phone. For both of these solutions we advise employers to use our online recruiting tool to advertise their position, receive resumes and schedule candidates.

If travel restrictions are known ahead of time, employers should set a date at least one month in advance for phone or teleconferencing. If travel for a previously-scheduled recruiting visit is unexpectedly prohibited, we can facilitate these options with a week of advance notice

Please be advised that we rely on university space and support for videoconferencing and therefore availability may be affected. The university currently charges $200 for the first hour and $50 for each additional hour for its videoconferencing services.

Please contact Employer Relations at 412-268-2064 or erelate@andrew.cmu.edu if this is an option you'd like to consider.
