Corporate Visibility
Why Host an Information Session?
Many organizations find that an open information session helps to increase visibility on campus and
provides a forum to discuss their organization's opportunities, structure, and culture.
The most successful events have been carefully thought-through -- each company must consider
their desired outcome. For example, is the presentation meant to make students aware of internship
and full-time opportunities and thus any interested student could attend, or will the information
presented be most beneficial to interview candidates and should therefore be mandatory for those
students? Is a convenient location on campus of paramount importance, or would an off-campus venue
be better matched to your culture? Help us to help you: let us know what you have in mind and we can
help you host a successful presentation!
What We Can Do For You
- We can reserve a location on campus. The Career Center books evening Info Sessions
in academic buildings on campus; we use classrooms that can accommodate approximately 35 people.
We can also reserve rooms to hold 50 or 100 people. Please let us know if you anticipate a large
crowd. There is rarely a fee associated with any of the spaces we provide.
- We can help with advertising. We post all of the company presentations to our students
on TartanTrak, the student interface of InterviewTRAK. We are able to post the date, time,
location, presenter and brief notes. If you'd like us to list your target audience or dress code,
please let us know. We can also hang up to 35 fliers around campus.
- We can order your AV equipment. Please fill out the
A/V Rental Form and we will place the
order. Your equipment will be set up about a half hour before your presentation begins.
Equipment charges are outlined on the order form.
- We provide you with a student ambassador to help you throughout the evening. Our
ambassadors can assist you with AV, room set up, errands related to your presentation and
general trouble-shooting. An ambassador should meet you at the beginning and end of your
session and ask for your feedback. We value your input and use it to tailor the services we
provide.
What You Must Do
Go to
http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/career/recforms/recruit.cfm and fill out the form.
Be proactive about your presentation!!! You've got to let students know that
you want to talk to them! The best way to increase attendance at your info session is to
email the students who submitted their resumes to your recruiting event and invite them to
your presentation. Email them again and remind them of the time and location. You can
use InterviewTRAK to do this by going to the candidates page and checking off the students
you wish to email.
If you choose to serve food, you must order it. Please contact Campus Catering
at 412-268-2129 for menu and arrangements. Student feedback indicates that hors d'oeuvres,
sandwiches and desserts are appreciated and pizza is overdone. However, if pizza is your
choice, there are several that deliver to campus:
Pizza Perfecta 412-661-9991
Vocelli Pizza 412-687-9555
Napoli Pizzeria 412-521-1744
Larry & Carol's Pizza 412-687-1189
Label materials that you send ahead. Consider limiting the amount of written
materials you bring to campus -- students seek information on the web. If you mail materials
for your presentation, please address it as follows:

We can send excess materials back to your office if you provide us with a Fed-Ex
or UPS account number.
Let us know if you'll be canceling your presentation. We want to present accurate
information to our students, so it's important that we know of all cancellations several
days in advance, barring unforeseen circumstances. Please contact Judy Ellgass, Employer Relations
Liaison, at 412-268-3994 or jellgass@andrew.cmu.edu
to cancel your session and AV equipment. Please contact Campus Catering directly at 412-268-2129
to cancel catered orders.
