Overview

The School of Computer Science (SCS) at Carnegie Mellon is dedicated to educating tomorrow's top research scientists. Our graduates' greatest strength is their ability to apply the ideas of experimental computer science to practical applications.

The strong interdisciplinary nature of our campus prepares students to rise to diverse and exciting challenges. As computing is a discipline with strong links to many fields, undergraduate students are encouraged to explore their interests through a required minor in a second subject area. Innovative relationships with various departments, including several cross-disciplinary programs, provide both graduate and undergraduate students with unique opportunities to participate in state-of-the-art research.
