Overview


Student in Carnegie Mellon's College of Humanities and Social Sciences (H&SS) have a practical edge over liberal arts graduates from other universities. They participate in a liberal-professional education that blends traditional liberal arts and social science studies with practical experience and the use of the latest technological tools.

With more than 60 major and minor programs, H&SS places a strong emphasis upon interdisciplinary course work; the use of theoretical knowledge the address actual business, professional and social problems of today; and the development of analytic, problem-solving and modern technological skills.
