Overview

Ranked fifth in the nation, our undergraduate Business Administration (BA) program emphasizes intellectual development and strong professional skills. Our students have a broad understanding of business, a strong work ethic, and considerable leadership ability. The program requires students to develop skills in all functional areas: accounting, organizational behavior, finance, marketing, production, management, business communications, business ethics and law. In order to build on this foundation, each student may choose a specific program track. Through this two-tiered program, our students master a specific area of business, while gaining an understanding of larger organizational concerns.

Students

Our students are unique. Unlike their peers at other universities, they must build a strong foundation in the liberal arts and the sciences before completing their degree. Carnegie Mellon is also a technically-focused campus. Business students command a firm grasp of emerging technologies. Many of our business students combine their enthusiasm for technology and their business skills to explore careers in e-business. Here are just a few more reasons why you’ll find our students uniquely qualified to fill your needs:

  • In their first two years, BA students complete a rigorous mathematics sequence, taking the same level of courses as their peers in the engineering program.

  • Our students also build a strong foundation in economics and the humanities. They quickly learn to apply their knowledge of the world and its people to real business problems.

  • All of our courses require extensive teamwork. Our students know how to work together to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and present their work clearly and effectively.
