Elisabeth McCafferty graduated from the College of Fine Arts with her Masters in Music in the spring of 2003 and she received her Bachelor of Music degree from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2001. She is currently a flutist with "The President's Own" United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C.

What was the biggest challenge of getting started and how did you deal with that challenge?

I was extremely lucky. My first professional opportunities came from playing in a traveling student orchestra. Try to take advantage of every playing opportunity that comes your way. Play every concert as if you are being paid thousands of dollars, regardless of the actual amount, if any.
