How do I register to participate in MLLD?
Please complete the online registration form. If you have questions or need
assistance, please call the appropriate career consultant, depending on which
areas of interest you and/or your organization has the most interest in:
Architecture and Design: Sonjala Allen (412) 268-2064
Art, Drama, and Music: Harriet Schwartz (412) 268-2064
Where can I see the entire MLLD agenda?
The MLLD agenda is a work in progress as we confirm our invited guests. Please
see the online tentative master schedule. Your individual schedule will be
created upon your registration. We will email this to you as soon as it is
set and will send you a final confirmation in early January.
Can I participate in classes?
If you would like to visit a class while you are on campus, please email Gloria
Geib at ggeib@andrew.cmu.edu. She
will pass your request on to the appropriate Career Consultant who will work
with you and the academic department faculty to see if there is a good fit
(in terms of timing and interests) for you to visit a class during this year’s
program.
Who will be there? Will I be able to network with other professional
participants?
We will regularly update our online list of professinal attendees as well
as the list of students planning to attend. You will sit with other creative
professionals, faculty, and students at the Opening Dinner. You will also share
breakfast and lunch with other participants (typically without students in
attendance) and have substantial time to network.
What should I expect at the Networking Event?
You will meet students who are interested in learning more about your work
and your professional development. If you are also looking for internship or
job candidates, you will meet students interested in these positions.
Do I really need to stay through the entire Networking Event?
Yes. Some students may not be able to attend your other MLLD involvements
because of class conflicts, etc. The Networking Event is the only part of the
program open to all students so it is very important that you attend. Likewise,
some students do not arrive until the second half of the Networking Event due
to classes and studios, so please plan to stay for the entire event.
Should I bring anything to the networking event?
A list of these items is available online.
What if I have specific dining preferences or restrictions?
If you have any specific dining restrictions, please make us aware of them
when you register to attend MLLD.
What is the “dress code” for MLLD?
We tell students to imagine they are going to an opening night, or a nice gallery
opening. The same “dress code” perspective applies for you. Your
time on campus will be busy and intense, so be comfortable. Also keep in mind
that you are setting an example for students who will be intentionally or unintentionally
be taking in professional cues.
