Sign-up for Empty Interview Slots

Each college career consultant will notify the students on their dlist (on the interview day, or the day before), if there are any slots available.

Students interested in the empty interview slots are invited to indicate interest by following these steps. Requests must be made in person in the Career Center, UC, Lower Level, on the day before by 5pm.

  • Fill in a blank cover letter form (located at the counter for student sign ins) and write a note to the employer in which you are interested. All information must be completed in order for you to be considered for an interview.
  • Give your resume and cover letter to the recruiting assistant and that person will make sure the employer receives it.

If the employer wishes to see you, you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Resume Drop

Employers with a strong interest in Carnegie Mellon students but who are unable to come to campus will conduct a Resume Drop. Resume Drops are events where employers post a position in order to collect resumes. A Resume Drop can be active for one week to one month, or more.

To participate, choose Search in the Opportunities box of the Search Menu to “See Resume Drops.”

Choose Details and submit your resume.

Mock Interview

Mock interviews are held by employers from real companies at the Career Center. However, these employers are not looking to fill positions, they are here to help you practice your interviewing skills.

To Sign-Up:

  • From the main TartanTrak menu, click on the Interview button at the top of the page or the Interview &
    Connect with Employers link.
  • Click More Search Options.
  • Broaden search dates to include the entire semester.
  • Select Mock Interview - Career Center in the Event Location pull-down menu (lower right).
  • Click the Search button.

Mock interview sign-ups are first-come, first-served basis.
Students can only participate in ONE mock interview per semester.
* The same late cancellation and no show policies apply for Mock Interviews as for On-Campus recruiting.

Students should dress for and prepare for a mock interview as they would any other.
We recommend that you bring a resume to the mock interview.

Graduate students from the Tepper and Heinz Schools (except MISM and MSIT) cannot sign up for a mock interview. Their career centers also offer this same service and students should contact their specific career center regarding the mock interview schedule and signup process.
