Student Employment

There are both need based and non-need based student employment opportunities on campus.

Federal Work Study (FWS) is a need based self-help award. If you have been awarded FWS, your FWS award is the total that you can earn during the academic year as a work study student. Funds earned in the Federal Work Study Program are not credited to your student account. For more information about financial aid, please visit the HUB.

If you have not been awarded FWS and wish to work on campus, positions are available to you. Both need based and non-need based student employment positions are advertised online in TartanTrak.

All undergraduates who are employed by Carnegie Mellon complete timesheets and are paid by check on a bi-weekly basis. Students have the option to have their pay directly deposited into a local checking or savings account. The authorization form may be found at the payroll website.
