Academic Integrity
The Carnegie Mellon Code sets “the highest standard” for our community regarding personal integrity. Academic challenges can provide many opportunities for high standards to evolve if students actively reflect on them and if the community supports discussions to aid in this process. However, in the midst of self exploration, struggles with fear of failure and the high demands of a challenging academic environment can create situations where some students have difficulty exercising good judgment. Why do students cheat or plagiarize and whose responsibility is it to ensure that the standards of our community are met? The information provided here is offered in response to those and other questions.
