There are fun theme sections and great roller coasters

Advertised as “America’s Finest Traditional Amusement Park,” Kennywood is a historic landmark. This park features 31 different rides, including six roller coasters, three of which are wooden, and the brand new coaster, the Phantom’s Revenge. Kennywood also offers all of the classic rides, from the log ride and the plunge to a merry-go-round and the Whip. There is a cafeteria-style restaurant with eighteen different vendors to choose from. There are long lines and lots of concrete, but also fun theme sections and great roller coasters. A fun way to spend a day, Kennywood’s season runs from early May to early September. Kennywood is also open for limited hours during the month of October for their “Fright Night” experience.

Hours:

Rides start running at 11am. It is also open for Labor Day weekend. Closing time depends on weather.

Getting There:

By Car:
Take 376 East to exit 9 (Swissvale). Keep to the right at the fork and then follow the big yellow arrows directing you to Kennywood. Parking is free.

By Bus:
Board the 61C bus at the UC stop. Take it straight to the park’s main entrance.
