Community Service

Carnegie Mellon strives to provide a range of community service opportunities that will challenge our students to expand their understanding of the social issues in Pittsburgh and beyond, consider their role in finding solutions for these community concerns, and develop relationships with local non-profits.  We believe that social issue education and reflection play a key role in achieving this mission. We utilize ten "impact areas" to structure our community service programs, ensuring that students are offered a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and that our service extends broadly to the community.

These impact areas include:

Adult Education and Literacy Environmental Protection and Preservation
Animal Support Health and Wellness
Art and Culture Homelessness and Hunger
Children and Youth Renovation-Revitalization-Repair
Disaster Relief Senior Care
