Carnegie Mellon strives to provide a range of community service opportunities that will challenge our students to expand their understanding of the social issues in Pittsburgh and beyond, consider their role in finding solutions for these community concerns, and develop relationships with local non-profits. We believe that social issue education and reflection play a key role in achieving this mission. We utilize ten "impact areas" to structure our community service programs, ensuring that students are offered a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and that our service extends broadly to the community.
These impact areas include:
Adult Education and Literacy
Environmental Protection and Preservation
Animal Support
Health and Wellness
Art and Culture
Homelessness and Hunger
Children and Youth
Renovation-Revitalization-Repair
Disaster Relief
Senior Care
Volunteer Fair
The Volunteer Fair at Carnegie Mellon is becoming a yearly tradition that encourages our campus to engage in community service within the Pittsburgh area. The main goal of the Volunteer Fair is to create an enjoyable and accessible environment for the community to connect with local non-profit organizations and charities, as well as campus student organizations that focus on service and philanthropy. All students, faculty, staff, and local alumni are encouraged to attend the fair and get connected on campus and/or in the city.
The Volunteer Fair will be held on September 12, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the CFA Lawn (rain location will be in Rangos Ballroom 1, 2, and 3 in the UC).
To learn more about the fair, including how to register your non-profit or community service student organization for the fair, please visit our Volunteer Fair page.
