Nosebleeds
Nosebleeds are one of the most common medical conditions and are highly controllable. Nosebleeds are simply broken vessels in your nose that can be caused by stress or blowing your nose too hard. If your nose begins to bleed rapidly:
- Sit with your head in a normal position or slightly forward.
- Apply pressure. Pinch the nostrils together for 10 - 15 minutes, you may repeat until the bleeding stops.
- Apply an ice cold washcloth directly over the nose.
To prevent nosebleeds from happening:
- Humidify your environment often.
- Use a lubricant like Vaseline to coat the insides of your nasal passages.
- Do not pick or blow the nose with great force.
