RESOURCES
Whether you need help for yourself or are concerned about a friend or family member, there are a number of resources from which to choose. The options listed below include a variety of services and websites available to you through different offices both on and off campus.
On Campus Resources
Counseling and Psychological Services (268-2922)
Alcohol assessment services, short-term counseling, support for adult children of alcoholics, and alcohol-related literature are available to you free of charge. Call to arrange an appointment.
The Office of Student Affairs (268-2075)
Educational programming for your group/organization and alcohol-related films and literature are available. Stop by or call to arrange an appointment.
Student Health Services (268-2157)
In addition to alcohol dependency assessments, Student Health Services will provide an evaluation of the impact which alcohol may be having on your physical well-being. Call to arrange an appointment.
The Health Educator, Kristine Cecchetti MPH, MPA (268-7888)
The Health Educator provides one on one counseling as well as programming for student organizations and other groups.
Interfaith Council (621-8875)
Representatives of various Christian, Jewish, and other faith communities offer pastoral counseling and pastoral care to members of the university community. Call for an off-campus appointment.
Employee Assistance Program (373-7080)
Alcohol assessment services, short-term counseling and referral services are available to all Carnegie Mellon employees. Call to arrange an appointment.
Off Campus Resources
The use of Pittsburgh resources significantly contributes to alcohol and drug abuse prevention efforts on the Carnegie Mellon campus. Below is a brief description of several community resources which may be helpful.
Alcoholics Anonymous (471-7472)
This organization is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths, and hopes with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Call for meeting times and locations.
Al-Anon (572-5141)
A fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experiences, strengths, and hopes in order to solve their common problems. Call for meeting times and locations.
Adult Children of Alcoholics Network (441-6862)
A network of support groups for adult children and grandchildren of alcoholics. Call for a current listing of meeting times and locations.
Gateway Rehabilitation Center (766-8700)
In-patient and out-patient treatment for those with acute or chronic problems with alcohol and/or mood-altering chemicals.
Drug Connection (531-1544)
A 24-hour alcohol/drug Hotline. Volunteers are trained to listen and refer callers to appropriate treatment facilities.
